Thanks for having a chat Rebecca, tell us a bit about yourself?
Call me Bec. I'm studying Accounting, but working part time doing bookkeeping in an Accounting Firm in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
Do you have other side hustles outside your job? If so, tell us about them?
Yes!!! The average millionaire has at least 7 streams of income so gotta start somewhere!!
Ebay reselling - love to pick up things for a couple bucks at vines/opshops and sell for a profit online. Super easy way to make some extra cash.
Surveys - I use a few survey sites every night which brings in a pretty good total each week. Not bad for an hour in front of the TV that I would’ve just spent scrolling social media anyways!
Social Media - I do make money from affiliate links and collaborations. Super grateful for this! Monetising social media really does help make it easier to provide good content.
Dividends/Bank Interest - all passive income - just money I have in investments/the bank that pays me. Who doesn’t love free money right?
Nice, got a bit happening! What was your first Crypto investment?
Bitcoin!
What made you choose BTC? Has that been your best crypto investment?
Bitcoin is like the OG coin I think. When you think about cryptocurrency, bitcoin is usually the one most people think of first. And it was my best performing. I put in $1000 around May last year, doubled it by December so cashed out my $2000. Was very skeptical at first but definitely going to buy more while the markets are down.
Well played! What has been your worst crypto investment?
Ethereum - bought it just over $6k Novemberish last year and currently sitting at around half the value of what I bought it. We live and we learn I guess… and I’ll just hold and see what happens.
HODL! What advice would you give to your younger self about investing? (Besides HODL?) Haha
Just do it! It’s a common misconception that you can only invest if you are rich, but investing is the thing that makes you rich.
What prompted you to start your investing journey?
I always knew I didn’t want to have to rely on asking a boss for days off for the rest of my life - so I chose investing as my way to sort of ‘be my own boss’ I guess.
Profound! Is there anything you would have done differently when you first started investing in crypto?
I should’ve stopped being so skeptical when BTC was like $10k. I should’ve just bought in! Crypto really is the future of the world!
Thanks so much for taking the time to chat Bec and thanks for being a part of the Bamboo community - we love having you here! Be sure to check out Bec's Frugals 20's on Instagram here and stay tuned for the next Bamboo Community Q&A.
